About Me

This program was written by Randy Hobart to address a consistent way to analyze print ready pdf's. We could then give prices based on coverage rather than print size. Consumable cost far out weight paper cost. So why should a price list or quote be based on the size of the paper alone?

Experiences

Printing
• Started full time in printing 1981 - Prep work for 40 inch Heidelberg 6 color press.
• Started Hobart's Printing Place in 1995.
• Printing experience - over 29 years.

Programming
• Programming began with the Atari, and then the Commodore.
• Platforms include DOS, Windows, and Mac.
• Ink Coverage was created using XCode, Cocoa framework, and Objective-C.
• Web markup and scripting.
• Dynamic languages: PHP, Python, Ruby, Groovy.
• Compiled languages: Java, C, C++, Objective-C.
• Favorite javascript library: jQuery.
• Least Favorite library: MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) library.
• Next adventure: Google App Engine, perhaps using Groovy and Gaelyk.
